All the pups have found new homes and are doing well. In a year's time we'll upload photos of the 'puppies' to the site. We wish the new owners all the best and lots of fun with their new family additions.

A few years ago a Jaguar stopped in front of our house. A couple got out and rang our doorbell. They'd heard that we had Great Danes. They'd just got themselves a Great Dane puppy. We showed them our Danes. The couple were slightly taken aback by the size of them - they weren't expecting that! After a while they said goodbye and said they were going for a little drive with their Dane who was sitting on the back seat of their shiny Jaguar. We thought it rather amusing - 'going for a little drive'. We did the same thing with our pups today - took them for a little drive, albeit to the woods. They seemed to enjoy the van. We'd put the children in the back of the van too so the puppies and Kyon weren't on their own. They had a great time in the wood and the snow. Who knows how long it'll be before we have snow again. By now we know the first names of our puppies: Kaya, Shuka, Guus and Tinus. We're still looking for a new owner for one male and one bitch.

The pups now join us in the front room every evening, which they thoroughly enjoy. The other dogs are not so sure about all the commotion. Everything in the puppies' path is tested for hardness by biting it. They wear out my poodle who still knows how to stand his ground and enjoys playing with them. Their other favourite activity is biting in feet, and the children are the best toys. We take them outside every day, something they enjoy more as the days go by. This afternoon they met the chickens. Very interesting. So far they've only noticed the hooves of the ponies - they haven't a clue what's attached to it as they don't really look up yet. It's a pleasure to see them discover the world. Things that we take for granted, makes them stop and explore. We're really enjoying them.

The puppies have been outside a few times. They were very cold but are getting used to it. It's good to see them do their business outside - something they do in larger quantities all the time. In the evening they're allowed in the front room, so they can discover more of the world.

The puppies are gradually beginning to eat more. We started weaning them on cereal which they enjoy. Yesterday we gave them meat for the first time, and they love it. They're also awake more. They have started playing together which is great fun to watch. We could watch them all day, although I do know there'll be a time when we think 'I wish they'd go to sleep for a while'... They're also a little bit housetrained already. Usually they do their business on newspapers in the puppy box. Sometimes they have their front paws on the papers and they manage to wet the box, but they mean well...

The puppies are growing like weeds. They're starting to play together and even try to bark. One of the puppies tried to make a sprint tonight. Kyon is eating a lot, I feed her 5 meals a day and she has access to dry food all the time. She also eats 2 kg of meat and she has a bit of ReadyBrek every day. And she wants to come for walks again.

The puppies and Kyon are doing very well. They've all opened their eyes now and are trying very hard to stand up and walk... Their legs look to be made of elastic still but they're already able to take a few steps. It won't be long before they're running in the puppy box and start to explore the world. It'll be a sad day...

In total 12 puppies were born. In most litters some puppies are stillborn or die after the birth, in this litter there were four. After a few days another male died. The reason was probably that the mother laid on the puppy, which happens occasionally. Today however, another puppy died, a bitch this time. Reason is unknown. We're doing our utmost to find out if there's a possible cause for the puppies dying. The last puppy has been taken for autopsy. We hope to tell you more later.
